I just signed up for the trial and am curious what the difference is between these two. When and why would you use one over the other? TIA!

Hi Phyllis,

GoToMeeting has a maximum limit of 25 attendees and is commonly used for sales to host demos and screenshares for sales calls or collaborating on projects.

GoToWebinar can handle huge webinars with versions that can handle up to 100, 500 and 1000 attendees. There's also some functionality to support large webinars such as attendee registration. We see alot of B2C sales or marketing organizations use GoToWebinar.

Many companies use both apps just for different purposes.

We have a salesforce.com app that integrates salesforce.com and GoToMeeting so we have alot of prospects asking this question. I hope the above helps!

cheers,

Oh thank you! So, since I messed up and have a webinar scheduled tomorrow via GoToMeeting and not GoToWebinar, is there anyway I can change it? Email invitations have already been sent out. I just told them seating was limited to 25, but I have a lot more people that would like to attend.

Hmmm... Sorry, I don't believe that there's a way of changing that webinar from a GoToMeeting one to a GoToWebinar one given that the emails invitations are already sent out.

After the first 25 have joined they'll get a message that the webinar is full. So the early bird will get the worm.

The only silver lining of this I can think of is the ones who can't make it in will realize you're not kidding around when you tell them the webinar will be exclusive.

Good Luck!

LOL that's right!!! :) Okay, one last question (for today anyway) :) During the free 30-day trial, if using GoToWebinar, is it still a limit of 25 participants?

So really the only difference is Go to Meeting is for small groups and Go To Webinar is for large groups? Am I correct on making this statement?

That is certainly part of it, yes. With GoToMeeting anyone can talk and be made presenter etc. GoToWebinar is more of a lecture environment where a small number of people are presenting information to a large audience who can then ask questions.

hi, do I get this right when I say: GTM is limited to 100 people actively attending (voice interaction for all) while GTW in whatever Version (100,500, 5000) has a Limitation to 25 Maximum able to talk (being unmuted)? Is this a technical restriction or is the number of "25 able to talk"
increasing with a larger Version of GTW (mean: GTW500 allows 125 to talk, GTW500 allows 250 to talk same etc....) ?

Hi,

I'd like to know if there is a Portuguese (Brazil) version for both GotoMeeting and GotoWebinar...
Thanks

Hi, unfortunately we do not have support for Portuguese at this time.
